Come hear what Coach Butch Jones has in store for Bearcat Football. The man who replaced Brian Kelly at Central Michigan University was selected to also replace him at the University of Cincinnati. Butch Jones was named the 38th head football coach at the University of Cincinnati on December 16th. You will have the opportunity to meet Butch Jones in person and hear his plans for Bearcat Football and what changes he foresees for the coming season as well as his seven core values he plans to instill in the football program.

At Central Michigan, Jones compiled a 26-13 record and took the team to two Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships. Central Michigan University was the last rated defense when Brian Kelly left and under Jones they became the first ranked defense in the MAC. A Michigan native, Jones played football for Ferris State University, and held coaching jobs at Rutgers University and West Virginia University, among others. He joined the coaching staff at Central Michigan in 1998 and moved up to head coach in 2007. Jones is truly going to be shooting for the stars. When Latwan Anderson agreed to take an official visit to Cincinnati last weekend, he became the first 5 star football recruit to ever do so!

Tourism Trip Itinerary

Day One - September 11, 2010 - Travel on your own to John F. Kennedy International Airport to arrive in time for an early morning flight to Beijing . Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific across the international dateline.

Day Two – September 12, 2010 - Arrive in Beijing, the capital of China. You will be met by your local tour guide at the airport and taken to your hotel. Visit Tian An Men Square, the largest public square in the world and the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 A.D., where the emperors prayed to heaven for a good harvest.

Day Three – September 13, 2010 - Visit the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City,with 9,999 rooms and home of 24 emperors. Tour the Summer Palace, featuring the Long Corridor and painted gallery, Kunming Lake, Longevity Hill, Seventeen-Arch Bridge and Marble Boat.

Day Four – September 14, 2010- Visit the Ming Tombs, exploring one of the 13 Ming Emperor’s tombs which is fully excavated. Optional excursion to the Great Wall, 4,000 miles long and over 2,000 years old.

Day Five – September 15, 2010 - Fly to Shanghai and travel to the city of Suzhou for a day of sightseeing. Visit the Lingering Garden, Tiger Hill, Hanshan Temple and the National Embroidery Institute to see silk embroidery, an important local craft with over 1,000 years of history. Dinner this evening will include a show featuring traditional Chinese music.

Day Six – September 16, 2010 - Morning excursion to the city of Hangzhou for a visit to the Economic Development Zone and the centuries-old Lingyin Temple, featuring a 64 foot high camphor-wood carving of Buddha.

Day Seven – September 17, 2010 - Morning boat cruise on West Lake with a relaxing stopover at jewel-like pagodas and tea houses. Afternoon tour bus trip to Shanghai.

Day Eight – September 18, 2010- Visit the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rockeries and over-arching trees. Also visit the Bund, Shanghai’s famous waterfront park. Tour the Pudong Economic Development Zone.

Day Nine – September 19, 2010 - Depart Shanghai for JFK International Airport.

The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Citslinc International to offer this exciting opportunity to our community. Citslinc has over 29 years of experience in coordinating tours to China offering exceptional customer service and value to their travelers. More than 500 Chambers of Commerce have toured over the years with Citslinc.

Important Information

The price of the trip is $1999 for Chamber Members and $2199 for Future Members per person and is based on double occupancy. A single room in all cities will cost an additional $450. To upgrade to business class on the roundtrip flights is an additional $6,000. If you chose to book your own airfare $300 will be deducted from the per person price. A nonrefundable deposit of $200 is due with your registration. The deposit is due by June 1, 2010 and applied toward the total cost of your trip. The deadline for full payment is July 1, 2010.

It is the responsibility of the traveler to secure or update their passport through March 2011. Also, all travelers must have a valid Chinese visa. The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce can handle visa applications at a cost of $145 per person. It is also the responsibility of the traveler to book their travel to John F. Kennedy International Airport arriving before Noon Sept. 11, 2010 and departing after Noon on Sept. 19, 2010.

The Small Business “SUCCESS” Awards was formed in 1996 to recognize Northern Kentucky small businesses that have demonstrated growth, financial stability, resourcefulness and creativity to excel in their chosen industries. To qualify, your organization must have completed three or more full years of operation, be locally owned and operated, generate less than $10 million in sales for the Construction Trades or Manufacturing / Distribution categories or $5 million for all other categories, and have fewer than 100 employees. The award is open to ALL Chamber Members and/or businesses in Boone, Kenton or Campbell counties.

First Ubiquitous city comes to NKY riverfront

A ubiquitous city or U-city is a city or region with ubiquitous information technology. All information systems are linked, and virtually everything is linked to an information system through technologies such as wireless networking and RFID tags. The concept has received most attention in South Korea, which is planning to build some 15 ubiquitous cities.

In the United States, the first Ubiquitous city is the Manhattan Harbour project in Dayton, Kentucky. Along the banks of the Ohio River, just minutes from downtown Cincinnati, the 142 acre riverfront project will be built as a Ubiquitous city from the ground up. *Due to the National Weather Services Winter Storm Watch for tonight through Wednesday afternoon and the uncertainty of the road conditions, we have decided to postpone the following events: 2010 Day in Frankfort, Northern Kentucky Night in Frankfort and 2010 Leadership Northern Kentucky - Government Session. All of the events have been re-scheduled for Thurs., March 18. If you have made a reservation for any of these events, your reservation will automatically be transferred to the new date of March 18.

The evening will consist of a reception that is the premier event during the General Assembly. The Convention Center will be transformed with music, entertainment, food and beverages. Food will be provided by the Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association.

For Night in Frankfort the bus will depart from the Northern Kentucky Chamber's back parking lot at 3:30 p.m. For Day in Frankfort you can catch the bus in the Northern Kentucky Chamber's parking lot at 7:00 a.m.

CHARITY NIGHT AT THE TABLES

A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY GIVING

This festive evening celebration will be held in the Lane’s End V.I.P. tent at Turfway Park and will include Monte Carlo games, grazing buffet from appetizers to desserts, split-the-pot, live entertainment and is expected to be attended by more than 800 people. During the evening players donate their play winnings to the charity of their choice. The charities will then have the opportunity to choose a horse in the Lane’s End Stakes the following weekend in hopes of winning $10,000.00

The 1^st Annual Health and Wellness Expo will be held Thursday, March 25 from 8-10 a.m. at Receptions Banquet and Conference Center in Erlanger. This event will feature health-related employers and service providers offering product samples, demonstrations, and other information. St. Elizabeth Business Health will provide complimentary screenings including blood pressure and BMI. The Expo will also feature fitness tips as well as door prizes.

The Expo is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. Booths may be purchased by Chamber Members for $100; the cost is $150 for non-members. Continental breakfast will be provided for all.
