Not familiar with the new import regulation implemented by Customs and Border Protection? Learn about the Importer Security Filing proposal (10+2) and the Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP).
The “10+2” rule became effective on Monday, January 26, 2009. Officially called the Import Security Filing, the “10+2” program requires two electronic filings for imported goods – one consisting of ten data elements, and then two additional ones as the goods move closer to the inbound port.
The CCSP program became effective on Monday, February 2, 2009 to companies located in the United States. Facilities that successfully apply and participate in the CCSP program will be designated as Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (CCSFs) and must adhere to Transportation Security Administration mandated security standards.
