Join us and our knowledgeable guides to tour Beijing and Shanghai in 9 days while staying at 4 and 5 star accommodations. In China, enjoy a multitude of unforgettable experiences with your community and family like visiting the Great Wall and Forbidden City.

Whether you choose to visit China for business reasons or as a tourist the Northern Kentucky Chamber has created a trip for you. If you are traveling for business we will work with the Kentucky China Trade Center to customize your trip around your business needs and visit the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. If you chose to travel as a tourist be prepared for an adventure of a lifetime experiencing over 15 regional attractions and sites.

Tourism Trip Itinerary

Day One - September 11, 2010 - Travel on your own to John F. Kennedy International Airport to arrive in time for an early morning flight to Beijing . Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific across the international dateline.

Day Two – September 12, 2010 - Arrive in Beijing, the capital of China. You will be met by your local tour guide at the airport and taken to your hotel. Visit Tian An Men Square, the largest public square in the world and the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 A.D., where the emperors prayed to heaven for a good harvest.

Day Three – September 13, 2010 - Visit the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City,with 9,999 rooms and home of 24 emperors. Tour the Summer Palace, featuring the Long Corridor and painted gallery, Kunming Lake, Longevity Hill, Seventeen-Arch Bridge and Marble Boat.

Day Four – September 14, 2010- Visit the Ming Tombs, exploring one of the 13 Ming Emperor’s tombs which is fully excavated. Optional excursion to the Great Wall, 4,000 miles long and over 2,000 years old.

Day Five – September 15, 2010 - Fly to Shanghai and travel to the city of Suzhou for a day of sightseeing. Visit the Lingering Garden, Tiger Hill, Hanshan Temple and the National Embroidery Institute to see silk embroidery, an important local craft with over 1,000 years of history. Dinner this evening will include a show featuring traditional Chinese music.

Day Six – September 16, 2010 - Morning excursion to the city of Hangzhou for a visit to the Economic Development Zone and the centuries-old Lingyin Temple, featuring a 64 foot high camphor-wood carving of Buddha.

Day Seven – September 17, 2010 - Morning boat cruise on West Lake with a relaxing stopover at jewel-like pagodas and tea houses. Afternoon tour bus trip to Shanghai.

Day Eight – September 18, 2010- Visit the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rockeries and over-arching trees. Also visit the Bund, Shanghai’s famous waterfront park. Tour the Pudong Economic Development Zone.

Day Nine – September 19, 2010 - Depart Shanghai for JFK International Airport.

Important Information

The price of the trip is $1999 for Chamber Members and $2199 for Future Members per person and is based on double occupancy. A single room in all cities will cost an additional $450. To upgrade to business class on the roundtrip flights is an additional $6,000. If you chose to book your own airfare $300 will be deducted from the per person price. A nonrefundable deposit of $200 is due with your registration. The deposit is due by June 1, 2010 and applied toward the total cost of your trip. The deadline for full payment is July 1, 2010.

It is the responsibility of the traveler to secure or update their passport through March 2011. Also, all travelers must have a valid Chinese visa. The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce can handle visa applications at a cost of $145 per person. It is also the responsibility of the traveler to book their travel to John F. Kennedy International Airport arriving before Noon Sept. 11, 2010 and departing after Noon on Sept. 19, 2010.

Pre-Tour Briefing and Orientation

The first pre-tour briefing for all registered participants and those interested will be held at Taft Center on March 30, 2010 from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Please register at www.NKYChamber.com to attend this free briefing session.
